With over 25 years of experience in special education, specializing in behavior and crisis management, Brian prides himself on his ability to communicate effectively and teach efficiently. He understands that not everyone learns at the same pace or in the same way, and he tailors his teaching methods to the student’s learning style.

A great admirer of both the sporting and self-defense aspects of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), he believes in teaching both to his students. He understands that there are multiple reasons to practice the art; whether students want to feel confident defending themselves, compete in tournaments, get in shape, or simply look for something fun to do, Brian firmly believes that BJJ offers something for everyone, regardless of ability, age, or fitness level.

Currently a purple belt, Brian obsesses over the endless possibilities that BJJ offers every practitioner. He loves that there is no single way of doing things, and you can find an approach suited to your style. He delights in helping students build their confidence and eventually discover and unlock their style. BJJ is constantly evolving, changing, and growing, and Brian encourages every student he works with to do the same.

As a veteran tournament coach, Brian has over 20 tournaments under his belt, cornering multiple students to numerous wins in both gi and no-gi divisions.

When he’s not on the mats or working his day job, he’s usually at home enjoying time with his wife, children, and dog, or occasionally indulging in his video-gaming vice.
